Nate was staring off into the distance, only hearing another man and the man he had called father talk for a few minutes. Suddenly he was frightened when he came and sat next to him by the door. He could smell it, so close in his reach that he was willing to just bite him there. He felt his teeth start to form, but he forced himself to change back.
Finally hear him speak to him made him want the blood even more. "Uh..." Nate said in response. He didn't know what to say. Uh, yes sir I want to suck your blood because it smells so good. he thought laughing at himself in his head, of course he couldn't say that. "Sir, I am really sorry, I really thought you were." he lied turning his face away and mouth WHAT! He looked back quickly and looked solemn. "I am sorry I bothered you." he said starting to get up slowly. Hoping he could resist further.

"Uh...no...it's not really a bother, seeing how it isn't true I didn't make much of it really." Haden said, lying like there was no tomorrow, besides, it was the only way to make this kid talk and not seem like he was intentionally harassing a total stranger. Honestly, Haden didn't know why in God's precious name he was sitting here with this kid. One minute he was glad that that bit of dramatic episode was over, the next he was looking over at the kid at every moment and the next he was sitting here talking to him, if this was a real Soap, three episodes from now, some 'convenient' birth certificate would show up saying that this kid was his son...glad this isn't a soap opera, three children were enough for a lifetime, not to mention the two grandchildren he had to raise.
"Um...you hungry? Let me get you something to eat...least I can do for ya." Haden said as he got up with a smile on his face. He turned around and he nearly jumped back at seeing Hillarie up in his face so suddenly with that creepy smile in his face...not to mention the corn in her teeth. Haden tried to return a friendly smile but he did so as he back away slightly. "Coming back to pick your choice of purchase Mr. Mathias?" She asked overly enthusiastically. This is once situation example which shows you can't feel sorry for every individual who comes down on hard times...and with that, Haden looked down at the boy, maybe he should take those words to heart right now...but...this boy was alone and looking for his father...he knew how that felt, so he couldn't help it, plus, it's an excuse to get away from Hillarie. "Um, not right now, I may be back in a few minutes." He said, once again spitting out another lie. "Sure, ok." She said, then she turned and bobbed back among the shelves.
"Alright little dude, there's this ok restaurant here in the mall, let's go grab a burger or fries...or lasagna and call it a day." He offered, looking back at the kid. "Searching for your dad has got to be exhausting...I honestly know where you're coming from...so lets grab a bite and I'll see you get a lift home." Haden said but there was something, a question he was biting to answer. "Um...how long have you been searching...and what's your name...I'm Haden." He said, holding his hand out to the kid.

Nate watched as the man seemed to honestly be talking to him. He was still so hungry he was ready to bite his neck and throw in the towel, but he seemed nice...too nice. It made it too hard to want to bite him, though the aroma was starting to kill his stomach. He kept asking if he was hungry. It wasn't helping much, and he still kept his face away as he talked. Trying to find someway to appetise himself while not killing him.
Watching him rise from his seat,he saw him talk to a saleswoman while he was collecting his thoughts. How could he get out of this? He made a stupid lie for a snack...okay a dinner and then some, but still, he needed it, he craved it. Nate still didn't know how to fully clean up his magical messes, so eating was only the easy part.
Once again hearing the hungry question he decided to have one more crack at getting this guy for dinner. He nodded slightly with a smile, "Sure, and thanks again." he said getting to his feet as well. Hearing that his name was Haden and an extended arm, he took it and shook firmly while adding, "Nate."

"It's nice to meet you Nate." Haden replied, happy for the returned handshake and accepted offer to have lunch. This mightn't be so bad, it could be cool, it was always interesting to meet people from different backgrounds and stuff, makes life more interesting...at least that's what he was telling himself. Honestly, he was still wondering why he was going so far and even more so, wondering how far he was going to take this...we'll just have to see now won't we, but first, lunch. "Right...there's this place in the mall, it's like a small restaurant with the restaurant feel...good food, great service and best of all, it was quite, that's mostly because not many people fancy eating in a mall restaurant." Haden said, looking back at different intervals to the boy as he walked and they most certainly walked; the place was on the far side of the mall but he was a fit kid so he should be able to keep up.
But they managed to get there in say...fifteen minutes of leisure walking and Haden halted in front of Naomi's Restaurant. He looked back at the kid then he led the way in, taking a seat further down, closer to the wine collection and the two just waited for service to arrive. "So..." Haden began, once again racking his mind for something conversationally interesting. "What are you having?" He said as he swiftly took up the menu in front of him and started to browse it like it would do on occasion before, like always, it settled on his usual- a portion and a half of lasagna with a side salad and a bottle of sprite poured into a glass. "Don't worry about cost, just or the meal you want and I'll cover it." He said as he tossed his menu back down in front of him, glancing around the near empty place looking for a waitress or a waiter or even the chef who has been known to step out and take orders on occasions. "Where you from Nate? Where's your mum?"

Nate followed Haden for about what seemed forever as he grew more hungry. He no longer cared for real food, he just seemed to care about blood, and lots of it. He wanted to seem normal until he made his attack, but seeing as he couldn't ask for a steak so rare that blood still ran from it, that he needed to just eat something small...dare he say a salad.
He ran his eyes over the menu furiously, trying to find something appetizing. Suddenly he just decided on a steak. "A steak I guess." he said with a quick smile, placing the small menu to table's edge. "Well I am from Eagle Rock, New Mexico and my mother still lives there." he explained truthfully, if he was going to eat this guy it didn't matter anyways what he told him.

"Oh...cool." Haden said, thinking how relieving it was that this kid wasn't out on the street, he had family and he had a home and that was a good thing, but for this kid, there was just something missing, had to be his dad, that's the only reason he could conclude at this moment in time. When the waitress did come around, he tore his curious gaze from the kid to her he ordered a plate of lasagna with a side of lettuce and a Sprite and for Nate the stake, also ordering a Sprite for him as well. "Want to hear something funny?" Haden said as he shifted himself in his seat, casting a glance over to the waitress, then he snapped his finger and the entire mall just froze. "I know you're not human, or mortal..." Haden said as he snapped his finger again, everything going back on course.
When he did the same back in the store, Nate could still move, and all Haden wanted to do was get a good look at this kid, even though he spoke, his words would have lingered and when time resumed, his word would have been a thought in this boy's mind and nothing more would have been said of this. Haden looked blankly at the boy...then he smirked and looked around when the waitress brought out his lasagna and his Sprite in a glass then to set down Nate's amazing stake and his own beverage...maybe Haden should have gone for the stake. "So..." Haden said, taking up his knife and his fork. "When did your father disappear and why are you searching for him...and how long have you been searching for him Nate." He questioned as he used his fork to hold the food in place, then to take his knife and slice the portion he desired.

Nate watched as the mall froze in and nobody moved. Oh crap... he thought in his mind. He knew that this guy now knew he was magical...but not that he was part vampire..."It's true..." He said with a small smile as Haden had figured out he was magical.
Nate watched as the steak came to him, and he cut it and took a taste, the cook did an excellent job of allowing there to be some blood left inside. He savored the animal blood though it did not satisfy by not the real deal, it would do...for now. He took a drink from his Sprite as he listened to what he had to say.
Nate had to think of a story quick. He didn't think Haden would bring up his father again, but there was a way to make him stop and think about it. "Well, since you caught me, I cast a spell to send me in the direction of my father, and when I got to LA, I tried the spell again, which lead me to the mall. Then, I did it one more time and it lead me to you." he lied, but hey it seemed like it would be a good story, and maybe would get Haden to think twice about the father thing. It is fun to play with people's heads...

Haden looked up at Nate with intrigue, I mean, some serious interest and curiosity in his eyes. “A spell?” Haden asked him as a smile played across his face. “A spell…” He said again as he shook his head in amusement as he lowered his gaze to his lasagne. He stuck his fork into the lasagne then used his fork to slice off another piece and he eat it, looking up at Nate as he slowly chewed. Like a minute later he swallowed then he took up his glass and drank his chilled, refreshing beverage, all the while he kept his eyes on this boy and as he lowered the glass from his lips to set it back down right on the water stain on the table, the exact spot where it previously sat, his smile once again played across his face. A spell led this boy to him…how interesting. “A spell, led you to me, a spell that was aimed at finding your father…led you to me.” Haden said, and his smile got even broader. He could say something, but that wasn’t his style, in recent decade, he took to letting things play out, the amount of knowledge he had spent years accumulating made the things he would say in a situation like this a bit unbelievable, not in the “amazing” sense of it, but the unfathomable really.
“How did you word your spell? Never mind that...” Haden said as he lowered his gaze to his meal, taking another bite of the delicious, sensuous meal that made his taste buds celebrate every time he took another bite and even more, the refreshing feeling of the Sprite as the chilled liquid raced down his oesophagus, it was just beyond satisfying. “I have gone well out of my way to offer you a meal and pay for it…I didn’t have to, but I did.” Haden said, his paternal way of handling such a situation forcing its way through. “Now…I will ask you to stop lying to me.” He added as he set his knife and for two, folding his arms across his chest as he sat back in his chair. “I am not your father; believe me when I say that. If you persist on telling me that I am, or merely, innocently hinting that I am…I will drag you to every single point in my life to verify…don’t doubt me on that. And as for a spell, something is telling me that that is the biggest crock I’ve heard in a long while...but I’m not one to judge, I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and say that your location spell went haywire.” Haden said as he suddenly fell silent, looking at the boy with earnest. “Now lets get this correct…my name is Haden Mathias…I am not your father. Now, what’s your name and where is your family and why are you here? I’m not letting you off that easily.” He said a she reached for his glass, taking a sip, then setting it back down on the exact same spot…hate it when his slight obsessive/compulsive nature shone through.

Nate listened to the man's explanation. Having a few heads turn their way as he did so. He looked dumbstruck...still hungry. He was even getting annoyed at himself. Rolling his eyes at the last part, he felt his teeth begin to grow. He even felt the burning in his eyes. He didn't care about exposure. He would probably be wanted in Los Angeles, which would give him, the opportunity to leave. "Okay, there, the truth." he said with a cocky grin and leaped across the table grabbing Haden's collar. The table's contents began to break and fall the floor. Making the crowd struggle and start to run screaming. "God I have been waiting all afternoon for this." he said and tried to bite his neck.

Remaining unmoved, he looked at the hold Nate had on his collar, then he looked up at the boy, and he looked into the eyes of the vampire...eyes which began to change at the thought of having a meal. Eyes which turned from hiding and deceitful to just plain hungry and reckless and he got really serious when his blood was about to be robbed but it wasn't like he was about to let that happen. He slapped the boy across his face, then after a prolonged look, he grabbed Nate's collar, and slammed him against the wall, his hand at his neck, applying pressure every few seconds or so before he just stopped squeezing, holding him there staring at the bared fangs. "You vampires have no honour, especially you lower levels who would do anything for a fix." Haden said, looking up and down him with disgust. He then pulled his collar away and reveal his neck, beneath which ran his jugular. "Is this what you want? Compared to the hundreds right here in this mall...why did you single out me? Nothing special about my blood? Or are you trying to suck my powers out as well..." He whispered. He wasn't sure if vampires knew that, maybe the older ones did, but they had the ability to suck memories, information and abilities, but they'd have to be considerably powerful, and this one here wasn't even near that potential. "Is this what you want? To feel your fangs sink into my flesh, to feel my warm blood spill into your mouth?" He asked, and he even went so far as to lean in to tease but he pulled away, keeping his grip on the boy's throat.
"You might be a day walker...but I can burn your ass to a crisp." he said before he released the boy so the floor. His ears picked up the sound of footsteps and he turned around to see the cook running towards them. "Mathias...what happened?" Haden looked at the witch then back to the vampire. "Nothing...he tried to suck my blood. Cast a spell, make sure their memories of this are wiped ok...as for you..." he said to Nate, grabbing him by the scruff of his shirt before he orbed into a back room of the mall restaurant. He threw Nate onto the floor then he used his telekinesis to lock the door and switch off the lights, leaving them in total darkness. "You should feel right at home." He said, deliberately making his location and presence known. "You know I am one of the Elders...don't you...all magical beings can sense Elders, it comes with the reverence and the territory, but forget about you lapse in judgement...are you completely stupid? You just risked making yourself known before a group of innocents and that goes against the peace that was established centuries ago...by my question is, why my blood? Still think I'm your father?" He said, added a bit of a taunt to it but that's what happened when he got annoyed. OOC: Sorry it's not very good.

((No its great!))
Nate felt no pain when he was being thrown around by Haden. Feeling his fist made his lust for the blood more wonderful, though he dared not try for it. He smiled on the inside, but no where else. As he noticed another guy talk to Haden, he kept his eyes locked on the 'Elder'. Why was an Elder walking around a mall? He thought they all stayed in the heavens.
Being thrown into the dark room he didn't think Haden knew about his new witch power, he was not all vampire to what he appeared to be. Quietly he levitated himself to the ceiling keeping himself high above Haden. Though he hadn't mastered his ice ability yet, he needed to start sometime. "No, I have a father, which is the reason for this....this vampire abilities. My father is a vampire, my mother a witch..." he said trying to not alert that he was above him. Though who could see anything in this darkness?
"I wanted your blood for the scent. I have become...well equipt to wanting magical blood since an enchantress showed me the way to becoming a vampire...." he added. Nate started to sweat from holding himself up for so long. His long hair starting to stick to his face, but waited patiently for what was to come next.

Haden closed his eyes as he leaned against the wall, his arms folded across his chest. Nate was a hybrid...it was shocking that back then, hybrids were seen as abominations, the union between a whitelighter and a witch being the most abhorred and the offspring weren't all to well accepted, but things changed, times changed and hybrids were everywhere...at the risk of hating what he was, it was dangerous having so many hybrids, it meant that the original species were actually dying out...maybe there were a few here and there but they were seriously diminishing in number...and as said before, that is going to become a great danger soon. He opened his eyes, intended to look down at the floor but the dark made it hard, so he opened his mouth and he exhaled an orb of pure light that glowed and illuminated the room and his eyes flickered up to the boy on the roof. "Clever..."
He stepped forward, reached his hand up, wrapped his telekinesis around him and brought him crashing down to the floor then he released his hold. "I don't like being targeted...and I don't like being attacked...honestly, you are too young to know the past, but I've faced worst than you and trust me, I'm not boasting...I'm making it clear that I will grab you and I will snap you in half if you try to take my blood...I will not be bitten, because if you even take a second longer, if you take a second too much, you could possibly turn me and I can't accept that, I don't know much about you dark creatures, but I know I can kill you...without silver." Haden said. He looked away for a second then he flicked the lights on, opened back the doors and his light orb vanished and he remained standing there, his hands pushed into his jeans, a blank look on his face, his expressionless eyes looking right at that kid. "Well..."

Nate listened to all this in the pitch blackness. He was still trying to keep quiet. To quiet, and Haden seemed to be keeping to himself as well. Seeing the bright light erupt from his mouth made him cringe. Crap. he thought to himself. Watching intently he saw that Haden pulled him hard to the ground. His super strength came in handy letting it only hurt slightly. But still feeling the cold stone beneath him he watched Haden turn on the lights.
Remaining on the floor, he was unsure what move to make next. He wished he were dead, no worse than that, he wish that he hadn't existed. He was an abomination, a horror, a creature that should have never been brought to this world. Nate rolled onto his back looking to Haden "Then end it." he said threatening his own life. Tears starting to fill his eyes. His experiment failed, he couldn't stay in the human world. Since Gwen had made him drink from that witch, he was a killer, one to be killed. "You would be saving the world...and myself." he said feeling the wettness on his face and the tears on the ground.

Haden looked at Nate, just watching as the kid chose to remain on the filthy floor, watching as the kid brought himself to tears and his heart leapt out...maybe it was because he was a sentimental guy, or maybe it was because he had some sort of guilt in him at having slammed the kid down on the floor...whichever it was, it showed that he had a heart and the fact that he told Haden to "end it" kinda irked him...he killed twice, and since one came back to life, that didn't count, but the fate of the world was in danger, he had the opportunity and he took it and the world remained as it did for hundreds of years...still spinning. He walked forward toward Nate, stooped by him then, awkwardly, he held his hand out and patted the kid softly on his head, then he turned and sat down beside the lying kid and...he just sat there for a minute, just being good company since the moment called for it.
"I'm sorry about how I reacted...about attacking you and stuff, but in my defence, you tried to suck my blood, and I kinda like to keep my circulatory fluids to myself if that isn't such a crime." Haden said, moving his hand from the kids head. "And I'm not going to "end it"...I'm not a killer and getting rid of you wouldn't make the world better, it would make it emptier and..." Haden said, glancing down at the back of Nate's head, "...as for your personal desire to get killed...maybe I can talk you out of it, maybe there's something I can do." He said, his sympathy leaking out like an oil spill. This really reminded him of the times when Vincent or Preston or Ethan got upset and refused to open up or share...yeah, it took some time to get them to open up, but he's a father, and a grandfather and he has methods and maybe they'll work with this kid.
"You know, you remind me of my son, Vince." Haden said, hoping to grab Nate's attention with this little fable. "He was a hyper kid, always running around, doing things he shouldn't do, and at one point, he got mixed up in a seriously bad crowd and he did some things...and when he came into his powers...everything went bad, and someone ended up in the hospital...an innocent, someone completely uninvolved, unrelated and unsuspecting of what was about to happen." Haden said as he thought back to that completely miserable, and seemingly endless night that seriously stretched on and on and on. "Vince called me, I came and I healed her somewhat so it wouldn't appear as unexplainable as it would have and Vince didn't speak to me for weeks...it wasn't because i did something that upset him, but quiet the opposite. His actions devastated his mother and I was never more disappointed and I guess, he felt that we lost our love for him...and that turned out to be en point but he was wrong, we could never lose out love for him...never...but my point is...conversation never hurt." He said, finishing off with a fatherly look and feel about him.

Nate continued to keep his face on the cold, dirty pavement. Ashamed of what he was, what he was born as. It was unfair, why would his parents do this to him? Wouldn't it be obvious what would happen if a VAMPIRE and a WITCH got together and had a kid? A monster, that is what it was, a monster. He hated that he could never get too close to someone without the desire to kill them. As Haden talked, he felt horrbile. He was a good guy, and he attacked him. Hearing the words that he would not kill him sent pangs throughout his body. Not allowing him to accept death. He was death in his own eyes. Watching Haden now as he told his story about his son got him to feel worse. So, the guy hurt an innocent, he killed someone. A big difference.
Nate kept his cold face at Haden, just watching him sit, waiting for an answer. It seemed like hours until Nate answered again, but he could have been wrong. Sitting up, he folded his legs like a kindergardener, and started his case.
"This is not the same, I killed an unconcious witch by free choice. All the enchantress did was show me the body, she gave me the option to kill. The curse of being born a vampire is the desire to kill to live, and being a witch, you were born with extra powers to make you even more dangerous. I don't want to hurt you. You're a nice guy, and you are wrong, the world wouldn't be emptier, but safer. You would be doing the world a favor..." he said suddenly realizing he was on his feet. Looking down to Haden he realized what he had to do...he had to die. "If you won't kill me, then I will kill myself..." he said looking around the room for a weapon. Finding a silver rod standing in the corner, he picked it up and held it to his chest, his heart, as a target. Closing his eyes, he was about to strike...wondering what pain would be like...
